Re-Emergence Retreat
Dear friends,
It’s time! Public registration for the Re-Emergence Writing Retreat is now open. Our soft start was met with great enthusiasm and the retreat (capped firmly at 15) is now half full. We’ve been working really hard to create a truly unforgettable deep-dive experience at Hackmatack Retreat, where those who arrive will be one one hand transported, and on the other hand, returned to themselves more wholly.
This is a creative writing retreat enhanced and supported by carefully curated and skillfully guided experiences to fully engage our senses and our inner ways of knowing so that we can apply our deepest wisdom to our creative work—and the creating of our lives in this new era. We know that as we seek to re-emerge from the collective trauma of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have the opportunity to engage with our creative energy in mindful, intentional ways. We have the opportunity to release some of the fear, grief, sorrow, and anxiety of the past year. We have the opportunity to use the power of our imagination and all of our senses to lean into creative energy, even knowing that to create is inherently vulnerable. We hold our stories in our bodies, and our bodies know, if we listen, how to manifest those stories as art. We will make ample use of the beautiful grounds of the retreat center in our writing work over the course of the three days, harmonizing our energy as we connect fully with ourselves, nature, and each other. As natural storymakers (whether we are writers or not, we are storymakers!), language is our tool, and one of our aims will be to tune into the music of language as a means of consciously and positively re-entering our lives as whole-hearted creators with new, deeper ways of seeing and sensing the world and manifesting ourselves as the creators (and personal life architects!) that we want to be in this next normal. This intimate retreat is limited to just 15 participants and is about half full. We are very happy to answer questions to help you decide if this is the right retreat at the right time for you. Just send us an email.
Finally, since many of us haven’t traveled for the past year and a half, we want to make it as easy as possible for our participants to manage getting to Hackmatack. Toward that end, we have a retreat coordinator, Lizzy Richter (find her email on the retreat page) to help you with travel logistics, whether that means finding the best, most affordable lodging option (we’ve identified some Airbnb shared house options for as little as $29/night), or finding someone to share a room or a ride.
As I’ve begun hearing from you and accepting your registrations, I’ve felt my heart beat with the wild and joyful anticipation of hugs, smiles, tears, and laughter through our mutual love of words on the page, and the way those words can change us and others for the better. It’s astonishing, and I can’t wait to experience it with you so soon.
With love,
Jeannine
